December 21, 2023 – Registration Open for Spring Semester of Cappella Cantorum
Registration for the Spring Semester of Cappella Cantorum Masterworks Chorus will take place on Monday, Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Deep River Congregational Church, 1 Church Street, Deep River, with the first rehearsal immediately following at 7:30 p.m. Rehearsals are generally held on Mondays from 7 to 9 p.m. at the same location. December 7, 2022: A Masterful Performance
Cappella Cantorum Masterworks Chorus performed holiday favorites at John Winthrop Middle School on Dec. 4 under the direction of Simon Holt. The chorus was accompanied by the Cappella Cantorum Orchestra and pianist Patrice Newman. The concert also featured soloists mezzo-soprano Rachel Abrams and bass-baritone Christopher Grundy. November 26, 2022: Cappella Cantorum Presents Holiday Concert in Deep River, Dec. 4
Cappella Cantorum will return to John Winthrop Middle School (JWMS, Deep River, CT) for the 2022-2023 season after a two-year absence. Rehearsals are in full swing for the upcoming winter concert, Vivaldi’s Gloria and Other Holiday Favorites, to be performed Sunday, Dec 4, at 3 p.m. at JWMS. Barry Asch can now keep his formal dress tailcoat in the closet. He won’t be needing it anymore. Asch wore tails when he conducted the Cappella Cantorum chorus, but after 47 years, Asch, a co-founder and music director of Cappella Cantorum, has just announced his retirement. Cappella Cantorum’s Board of Directors and Music Director/Conductor Barry B. Asch announce that this year celebrates the organization‘s 45th Anniversary Season. Cappella Cantorum is the lower Connecticut River Valley and Shoreline’s premiere non-auditioned community choral organization whose primary purpose is to learn, perform, and enjoy great choral music while striving for excellence for the enrichment of its singers and audience.
