Music Director
Irina Georgieva is an Associate Professor of Conducting at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she has been teaching in the Department of Composition within the Professional Writing Division since 2014. She teaches a range of conducting classes and lessons, with a focus on choral and instrumental music, particularly masterworks.
Throughout her career, Irina has led numerous choirs and orchestras, including the Sage Chapel Choir at Cornell University, the Chamber Singers, Men’s Glee Club, and Women’s Chorus at the University of Rochester, the College Community Chorus at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, the Singers at Rochester Institute of Technology, and the choirs at Sacred Heart University and the Greece Community Orchestra.
Irina has also served as a Music Director and Organist at several churches in the United States, including St. John’s Episcopal Church in Jamaica Plain, MA. Before moving to the US, she was a staff singer at Orthodox churches in Sofia, Bulgaria. She currently serves as the Director of Music Ministries at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Wilton, CT.
Irina holds an undergraduate degree in Choral Conducting from the State Academy of Music in Sofia, Bulgaria, a Master of Music in Conducting from Northwestern University, and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Conducting from the Eastman School of Music.
Irina is thrilled to be the Music Director of Cappella Cantorum Masterworks Chorus, and to offer the choral masterworks of the past three centuries to the shoreline community.
Accompanist
British organist, conductor, and teacher Alex Hodgkinson serves as Director of Music at St. Theresa’s Church, Trumbull, Connecticut. Alex joined Cappella Cantorum as Accompanist for the Masterworks Chorus in 2025.
Following an organ scholarship at Ely Cathedral, Alex read Music at the University of Oxford. There he was Organ Scholar of Keble College and spent a year as Acting Organ Scholar of New College.
Alex was successively Head of Academic Music at Repton School and Director of Chapel Music at Marlborough College. He was subsequently appointed Director of Music at Christ’s Hospital, one of the UK’s most historic and prestigious schools. Alex relocated to the US in 2023 to assume his current role.
Alex is a prizewinning Fellow of the Royal College of Organists and was awarded the Silver Medal of the Worshipful Company of Musicians. He is Co-Dean of the Greater Bridgeport AGO Chapter and a regular columnist and reviewer for The American Organist.
